Hi, I’m Dr. G — and I Built This Site Because I Was Tired of Seeing the Same Problems in My Clinic
For over a decade, I’ve worked as a licensed optometrist. And over those years, I’ve noticed a pattern that’s hard to ignore: more and more of my patients are coming in with the same complaints — dry eyes, headaches, blurry vision at the end of the day, neck pain that won’t quit.
The culprit? Almost always their workspace.
We spend 8, 10, sometimes 12 hours a day staring at screens. And most of us are doing it with monitors at the wrong height, chairs that wreck our posture, and lighting that turns our eyes into a desert by 3 PM.
Why Another Desk Review Site?
Fair question. There are plenty of sites that review standing desks and ergonomic chairs. Some of them are quite good. But here’s what they’re missing: the clinical perspective.
Most reviewers can tell you about build quality, motor noise, and wobble at max height. I can tell you all that and whether the desk’s height range actually lets you position your monitor correctly for your eyes. I can explain why that bargain monitor arm might be causing your headaches. I can tell you whether the “blue light blocking” claims on that product are real or marketing fluff.
That’s the Desk Wellness Lab difference. Every product review on this site is filtered through the lens of someone who’s spent years treating the consequences of bad workspace ergonomics.
What You’ll Find Here
- Honest product reviews — Standing desks, ergonomic chairs, monitor arms, lighting, and accessories. I buy or extensively test everything I review. No pay-for-play.
- Eye health guides — Practical advice from a clinical perspective on how to protect your vision during long screen sessions.
- Workspace setup guides — How to actually configure your desk, monitor, and chair for both comfort and eye health.
The E-E-A-T Thing (For the Skeptics)
If you’ve heard of Google’s E-E-A-T framework (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness), here’s where I stand:
- Experience: I use ergonomic products daily in my own workspace and have been optimizing desk setups for years.
- Expertise: Licensed optometrist with clinical training in binocular vision, visual ergonomics, and occupational eye health.
- Authoritativeness: Active clinical practice seeing real patients with screen-related visual complaints every single week.
- Trustworthiness: I disclose all affiliate relationships. My clinical recommendations don’t change based on commission rates. Period.
A Note on Affiliate Links
This site participates in affiliate programs. When you buy something through my links, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps keep the site running and lets me continue testing products.
My promise: Affiliate relationships never influence my recommendations. I’ve sent patients to products with no affiliate program because they were simply better. I’ll do the same here. You can read my full affiliate disclosure for details.
